Quick answers to the questions providers and staff ask most about Viewer.
Common questions from providers and staff.
Viewer is a desktop app that connects to your clinic’s Lumirai Link, watches exam rooms, and shows Medstrat Joints studies for the patient in each room. You can also search PACS, assign a patient to a room, or open extra Open Studies tabs. See Getting started.
Yes. Viewer supports macOS (universal DMG) and Windows (x64 and arm64 installer, plus the Microsoft Store). The Windows program is named Viewer.
No. Viewer embeds Joints studies that Link and your PACS already know about. Your clinic’s Link, Joints, and PACS remain the source of truth.
Same Link login, rooms, studies, History, and Lightbox lock. Desktop adds a command bar, keyboard shortcuts, and up to four Open Studies tabs, where Viewer on iPad has two. There is no rotary scroll dial. Study viewer zoom is Better Layout (80%) or Bigger Text (100%).
No. You sign in with your Lumirai Link staff account — email and password, or an emailed one-time code. Viewer does not create a second clinical password.
Viewer restores a valid Link session when it can. You may see Reconnecting…, then the main window. See Connecting and logging in.
No. After you log in to Link, Link supplies the Joints session. Check Settings → Medstrat Joints if studies will not load.
Changing the Lumirai Link URL reconnects to the new server and signs you out of the previous one. Sign in again after Connect succeeds.
Settings → Rooms, then turn on each exam room. See Rooms.
Use Search or History, open the row’s ⋯ menu, and choose Assign to that room.
Select the room or Open Studies tab, open Studies (⌘ L / Ctrl L), and check the exams you want. Use Include Patient if another medical record belongs on the same screen. See Studies panel.
Desktop Viewer keeps up to fourOpen Studies tabs, where Viewer on iPad keeps two. Opening another replaces the oldest extra tab. Watched rooms do not count toward that limit.
Those covers mean there is no patient, PACS has not returned exams yet, or no study is checked on. See Viewing studies.
That’s the command bar. Press ⌘ P / Ctrl P to open it. Type to jump to Search, Studies, History, or Settings, search by name, or reopen someone from History.
Press ⌘ Shift P / Ctrl Shift P, type Last name, First name, and press Enter.
If you see Shared Joints account, the Medstrat login is not your Lumirai username. Studies can display, but input is blocked on purpose. Ask IT if you should have your own Joints account.
See Privacy and shared computers.
Viewer downloads updates in the background and applies them when you quit, so an open session is not interrupted. Settings → About shows update status and Check Now. Store builds are updated by the Mac App Store or Microsoft Store.
No. It signs you out, deletes the saved login and Joints cookies on this computer, and restarts Viewer. History on Lumirai Link is not removed.
