Studies panel

Choose which exams appear in the viewer, including extra records for the same room.

The Studies panel is where you choose which exams appear in the viewer — including extra records you included for the same room.

Open the panel

With a room or Open Studies tab selected:

  • Choose Studies — the list icon — on the viewer strip, or
  • Press ⌘ L / Ctrl L, or
  • Use the command bar and choose Studies

The panel replaces the images until you close it the same way, or jump back to the viewer.

What you see

The band under the strip shows:

  • MRN and DOB for the roomed, or opened, patient
  • When the study list was last updated
  • Include Patient, on rooms that already have a patient
  • Refresh — ask PACS for the latest studies

If nothing is identified yet, you will see No patient identifiers.

Include Patient

Use this when automatic matches missed a record you still need on screen.

  1. Choose Include Patient.
  2. Search by last name, first name, patient ID, or date of birth.
  3. Choose the patient whose studies should sit alongside the roomed patient.

If the dates of birth differ, Viewer asks Are you sure? A different DOB usually means a different person.

Included patients appear as chips: the roomed patient first, then each extra record. Choose X on an included chip to remove that person. You cannot remove the roomed patient with the chip X. The two-person matches badge on the room is another path into the same idea — see Rooms.

Choose which studies display

Each row is one study. Click the row or the check control to turn it on or off. Viewer reloads the images after a short pause so your selection is applied.

Columns include name, date of birth, patient ID, studied date, modality, body part, image count, and description. A dot on the studied date means the exam is from today.

If a room shows more than one medical record, rows from an included patient are marked so you can tell them apart. A name, DOB, or ID that does not match the roomed patient is highlighted.

If nothing is selected, the viewer stays open at 0 / N with No Studies Selected — choose a study to display images.

Refresh

Refresh asks PACS for an updated list. If PACS cannot be reached, Viewer says Could not reach PACS. Try again in a moment.

Tips

  • The number on the viewer strip, such as 2 / 5, always matches how many boxes are checked in this table.
  • Include and chips are for rooms. An Open Studies tab is one patient — you still pick studies, but you do not include a second person there.
  • Treat the panel as PHI. Close it when you are done if the screen is visible to others.
