Privacy and shared computers

What Viewer keeps on a computer, and how to hand one off safely.

Viewer is built for clinical imaging workflows. Patient names, IDs, dates of birth, sex, accession numbers, study descriptions, rooms, and included records are protected health information (PHI). Treat the Viewer window like any other clinical system on screen.

What Viewer stores locally

This computer may keep:

  • Your Lumirai Link hostname and whether you use a secure connection
  • Your Link session, so you can return without signing in every time
  • Joints cookies Link supplied for the study viewer
  • Display preferences, such as study viewer zoom and Collapse on select

History lives on Lumirai Link, not only on this computer. It is separated per Link account, so switching users does not mix one person’s History into another’s.

Shared Joints accounts

Link may supply a Joints login that is not your Lumirai username. Viewer then shows a Shared badge and a banner on the study viewer. Images can display; input is blocked so a shared PACS session cannot be driven under the wrong name. See Viewing studies.

Shared workstations

On a nurses’ station or other shared computer:

  1. Close extra Open Studies tabs when you finish a patient.
  2. Log out of Lumirai Link, from the status bar or Settings → Lumirai Link.
  3. Ask IT before using Erase local data.

Logging out ends the Link session in the app. It does not clear History on the server.
