Getting started

What Lightbox does in the exam room, what you need before the first visit, and a checklist for your first day.

What Lightbox does

Lightbox is the exam-room display, and it has two modes:

  • Locked — plays the room’s signage video playlist, like a screensaver. No patient images are shown.
  • Unlocked — opens Medstrat Joints for the patient currently roomed here, with the studies your staff marked for display.

Providers unlock with an NFC card. There is no username or password on the kiosk for clinical staff.

Lightbox doesn’t replace Joints or your PACS, and it doesn’t room patients or include extra matches. Do that in Lumirai Link or Lumirai Viewer.

Before you begin

Providers and staff need:

  1. A room display already set up by IT, connected to Link and placed in the right room
  2. An NFC card issued by your clinic, unless IT turned on demo mode for training
  3. A patient roomed to this room in Link or Viewer, with studies marked for display

IT need:

  1. Lightbox installed on the Windows kiosk
  2. The Lumirai Link hostname, TLS setting, and the display username and password
  3. The Location ID and Room ID for this exam room
  4. An NFC reader on the kiosk, unless you will use demo mode only

First day checklist

For providers and staff

  1. Confirm the display shows signage. See The locked screen.
  2. Room a patient in Lumirai Link or Lumirai Viewer and mark the studies to show.
  3. Unlock with your card. See Unlocking.
  4. Review images with the patient, and use inking if you want to mark up the screen.
  5. Lock the display when you leave. See Locking the screen.

For IT

  1. Open Settings by right-clicking the lock icon, then create the settings passcode.
  2. Enter Lumirai Link and Placement. See Setting up the display.
  3. Wait until the status bar shows Connected and authenticated.
  4. Confirm a card unlocks the display, or use demo mode only in a non-clinical setup.
