Inking

Draw on the images during a visit. Marks stay on this display and are never saved with the study.

Inking lets you draw on the images during a visit — for example, to point out a finding with the patient in the room. Ink stays on this display only. It isn’t saved with the study, and it clears when you close inking or lock the screen.

Start and close

While unlocked:

  1. Tap Start inking on the status bar — the highlight icon — or choose Ink from the viewer menu.
  2. Draw on the images.
  3. Tap Close inking, either on the status bar or the X on the ink dock, or press Escape.

Starting inking closes the studies panel, and opening the studies panel closes inking. Locking the screen always closes inking and discards the strokes.

Tips

  • Use a finger, a mouse, or a Windows pen. A pen uses pressure when the hardware supports it.
  • Ink is for the conversation in the room. It doesn’t become part of the PACS study.
  • Close inking before you need Joints tools again — the overlay blocks the viewer while it’s open.
