Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the exam-room display for providers and staff.

General

What is Lumirai Lightbox?

Lightbox is the Windows exam-room display. Locked, it plays signage videos. Unlocked, it shows Medstrat Joints for the patient roomed to that room. See Getting started.

Does Lightbox replace Joints or our PACS?

No. Lightbox embeds Joints and shows studies your clinic already stores. Lumirai Link and your PACS remain the source of truth for who is roomed and which studies display.

Do I sign in on the room display?

No. There is no staff login on Lightbox. Providers unlock with an NFC card, and IT configures the kiosk once under Settings.

Is Lightbox available on Mac?

No. Lightbox is a Windows (x64) kiosk.

Unlocking

How do I unlock the display?

Hold your clinic NFC card to the reader and wait for Access granted. If your clinic requires MFA, enter the 5-digit one-time passcode sent to your email. In demo mode — training and setup only — tap the lock icon instead. See Unlocking.

Why was my card denied?

Access denied means Link did not allow that card for this room. Common causes:

  • The card isn’t enrolled, or is enrolled for a different location
  • The display isn’t Connected and authenticated
  • The card isn’t permitted to unlock Lightbox rooms

Ask IT or your clinic administrator. Try again after the status bar shows a healthy Link connection.

What does MFA required mean?

Your clinic requires a one-time passcode after the card tap. Enter the 5-digit code from email. See Unlocking — one-time passcode.

Why didn’t tapping the lock icon unlock?

Left-clicking the lock icon locks an unlocked display. It unlocks only when Demo mode is on; otherwise Lightbox shows Use a card to unlock. Right-clicking the lock icon opens Settings behind the IT passcode, not the patient viewer.

Studies and rooming

Why does it say No patient roomed?

Nobody is assigned to this room in Lumirai Link or Lumirai Viewer. Room the patient there — Lightbox cannot room from the kiosk.

Why does it say No studies found or No studies selected?

They are two different situations — see Viewing studies for the full picture:

  • No studies found — Link has no imaging for this visit. Refresh in the studies panel, or check PACS from Link or Viewer.
  • No studies selected — studies exist, but none are marked for display. Show rows on the studies panel, or mark them in Link or Viewer.

Can I room a patient or include a match from Lightbox?

No. Room patients and include extra matches in Lumirai Link or Lumirai Viewer. The people icon on Lightbox is read-only: an outline means matches are available, and a filled icon means includes are already applied.

How do I change which studies are on the wall?

Unlock, tap Show studies, and use Show / Hide on each row. Staff can also change the selection in Link or Viewer, and Lightbox will offer Studies updated.

Shared rooms

We share this exam room — what should we do?

  1. Room the patient and select studies in Link or Viewer before the visit.
  2. Unlock with your card only while you are in the room.
  3. Tap Lock view, or tap your card, when you leave.
  4. Expect the screen to lock when the next patient is roomed.

See Privacy and shared rooms.

Updates and support

When do updates install?

Lightbox downloads updates in the background and applies them when the screen is locked, so a visit isn’t interrupted. IT can also choose Restart and apply update in Settings.

Where can I read the full guide?
