Creating your practice

Signing up and choosing a Practice ID.

Signing up creates one Lumirai account for the whole practice. Do this once; everyone else gets access through Echo Accounts rather than by signing up again.

Sign up

  1. Go to accounts.lumir.ai/signup, or choose Create one at the bottom of the login page.
  2. Fill in Create an account: - Practice ID (required) — see the rules below - Practice name (required) — the full name, as you would write it on a letterhead - Your details — Name (required), Role, Email (required), Phone
  3. Choose Create account.
  4. Lumirai emails a six-character login code to the address you entered. The Check your email screen appears.
  5. Enter the code and choose Log in.

The code expires after 30 minutes. If it lapses or does not arrive, choose Send a new code.

You are not asked to pick a password during sign-up. As the page says, "We'll email you a login code to finish setting up your account. You can add a password later from your settings." Adding one is optional — see Account settings.

Choosing a Practice ID

The Practice ID identifies your practice to Lumirai, including to the Echo and Lightbox apps. It is permanent: it cannot be changed afterwards, so pick something you will still recognise in a few years. Short and obvious beats clever.

Rules, as shown on the form:

Use 3-32 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and dashes, starting and ending with a letter or number.

A green tick appears beside the field once the ID is both valid and free. A handful of words are reserved; if you hit one you will see "That Practice ID is reserved. Please choose another."

Spaces are converted to dashes and capitals are lowercased as you type, so typing North Valley Ortho gives you north-valley-ortho.

If Lumirai set your account up for you

Some accounts are created by Lumirai rather than through sign-up. In that case you receive an email titled Welcome to Lumirai! containing an activation link. Follow it, set a password, and you are signed in. Everything else in this guide works the same way afterwards.
