Frequently asked questions

Common questions from providers and staff.

General

What is Lumirai Echo?

Echo is a desktop app that works with Medstrat Joints. You sign into Joints inside Echo, open studies in tabs, search for patients, and — with Pro — use History and Tab Sync.

See Getting started.

Is Echo available on Mac and Windows?

Yes. Echo supports macOS and Windows.

Does Echo replace Joints or our PACS?

No. Echo embeds Joints and opens study viewers from your existing systems.

Signing in

Do I need a separate Echo password?

No. You sign in with your Medstrat Joints account. Echo Pro licensing is tied to that email by your organization; you don’t create a second clinical password inside Echo.

Why didn’t Echo ask me to log in?

If enabled, echo restores a valid Joints session when it can. You’ll see a short verification checklist, then the main window. See Logging in.

Opening studies

How do I open more than one study for the same patient?

Use Search, select the patient, check several studies, and choose Open selected. You can also adjust which studies are loaded from the viewer’s Studies panel.

See Opening studies.

Why can I only open one view?

Echo Free allows one open view at a time. Staff and Provider plans allow unlimited open views. Ask your clinic admin about upgrading, or see Plans and accounts.

  • Study List is the Medstrat Joints worklist inside Echo.
  • Search looks up patients in PACS by name, ID, or date of birth and lets you open one or many studies deliberately.

Command bar

What is “Search or jump to…”?

That’s the command bar. Press ⌘ P / Ctrl P to open it. Type to jump to Search, History, or Settings, search by name, or (on Pro) reopen someone from History.

How do I search by name from the keyboard?

Press ⌘ Shift P / Ctrl Shift P, type Last name, First name, and press Enter.

History and plans

What’s the difference between Free and Pro?

FreePro (Staff / Provider)
Open views1 at a timeUnlimited
HistoryNot savedUp to 90 days
Tab SyncNoYes
Own/share sync folderNoProvider only

Why don’t I see History?

History requires Echo Pro. On Free you’ll see an explanation instead of a list.

Tab Sync

How do I share my open studies with an assistant?

If you are a Provider:

  1. Enable Tab Sync and sign in with Microsoft.
  2. Use Your list.
  3. Choose Share my list, enter the assistant’s work email, and send them the Share link.

The assistant (Staff or Provider) adds the list under Shared with you or Add shared list by link. Full steps: Tab Sync.

Why does Tab Sync ask my admin to approve?

Microsoft requires organization (tenant) admin consent the first time Echo needs Files access in your Microsoft 365 tenant. See Microsoft 365 admin consent.

Can I use a personal Microsoft account for Tab Sync?

No. Tab Sync needs a work Microsoft 365 account covered by your organization’s BAA. Personal accounts are not supported.

No. The Provider must share the list with that person’s email. The link only helps them add the list quickly afterward.

Updates and support

When do updates install?

Echo downloads updates in the background and applies them when you quit, so an open reading session is not interrupted. Settings → About shows update status.

Where can I read the full guide?

Start at the User Guide home.
