Command bar

The fast way to search patients and reopen recent views.

The command bar (also called Go to…) is the quickest way to move around Echo. Use it when you want to search for a patient or reopen someone from History without clicking through menus.

Open the command bar

Any of these works:

  • Click Search or jump to… in the title bar
  • Press ⌘ P (Mac) or Ctrl P (Windows)
  • Choose Go to… from the View menu

What you can do

While the bar is open:

Search by name in two steps

  1. Open the command bar.
  2. Choose Search by name… (or press ⌘ Shift P / Ctrl Shift P to jump straight there).
  3. Type the name as Last name, First name.
  4. Press Enter.

Echo runs the patient search and opens the Search screen with results.

Why it’s worth learning

For busy clinics, the command bar is often faster than the toolbar:

  • One shortcut to search or jump anywhere
  • History matches as you type (Pro), so returning to a patient you saw earlier is two keystrokes

If you only memorize two shortcuts, make them:

  1. ⌘ P / Ctrl P — Go to…
  2. ⌘ Shift P / Ctrl Shift P — Search by name…

Notes

  • History rows appear in the command bar only when History is available (Echo Pro).
  • Free users can still open the bar and jump to Search or Study List; choosing History opens the Pro explanation screen.
  • Name search expects a comma between last and first name. Without a comma, typing filters History by name or patient ID instead.
