What the study viewer shows, what each empty state means, and how to refresh it.
When a room or Open Studies tab has a patient and selected studies, the right side shows those images in Medstrat Joints.
The header shows the patient name, age and appointment info, and how many studies are on screen. Room viewers also show the location and room name. A Lightbox lock badge appears when that room has a Lightbox. See Lightbox lock.
If images can’t be shown yet, the viewer explains why:
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Joints Account Required | Link has not provisioned an authenticated Joints account yet |
| Vacant Room | No patient is assigned to this room |
| No Studies | This patient has no studies yet — wait, or refresh the list |
| No Studies Selected | Studies exist, but none are checked in the study list |
Joints Account Required is not something you fix by signing into Joints in a browser. Log out of Viewer and back in. If it continues, ask IT to confirm your account is enabled.
On a Shared Joints account, Viewer blocks tapping inside Joints so a shared login can’t change images. You can still pick studies in Viewer. See Privacy and shared iPads.
| Control | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Draw | Mark up images for discussion (not saved to PACS) |
| Studies | Check which studies to display |
| Refresh Study List | Pull a fresh list from Link |
| Reload Viewer | Reload Joints if the images look stuck |
| Hide Viewer | Deselect this room and show the sidebar |
| Open in New Viewer | Open this room’s patient in Open Studies (rooms only) |
| Close Viewer | Close this Open Studies tab |
| Lock / Unlock Lightbox | Control the exam-room display (Lightbox rooms only) |
Studies is disabled when the room is vacant.
If a new study should have arrived, try Refresh Study List first, then Reload Viewer if the images still look stale.
