Settings

The IT-only Settings screen: Link and placement, app updates, the signage video cache, and power actions.

Settings is for IT. Open it by right-clicking the lock icon on the status bar, then creating or entering the settings passcode. See Setting up the display for first-time setup.

Providers and staff don’t need Settings during a visit.

These fields are documented in Setting up the display:

  • Lumirai Link — Hostname, TLS, Username, Password
  • Placement — Location ID, Room ID, Room name override, Demo mode

Choose Save after changes, and Lightbox reconnects with the new values. Cancel closes Settings without saving.

Updates

Lightbox checks for updates automatically. The status text under the version can read:

  • Up to date, with the time of the last check
  • Downloading a version
  • Version … is ready. It will apply when the screen is locked, or restart now.

A ready update installs when the display is locked, so a visit is never interrupted. You can also choose Restart and apply update to install immediately, or Check for updates to look now. Store-installed builds are updated by the Microsoft Store instead.

Downloads (video cache)

The download icon opens Downloads, the local cache for the locked-screen playlist. From there you can:

  • See which videos are cached, partial, or missing
  • Choose Retry now to fetch again without waiting
  • Delete selected files, or clear the whole cache

If a file is playing, deleting it may show File in use. Lock the screen or wait, then try again.

A room with no playlist in Link shows None — No playlist assigned to this room. Assign the playlist in Lumirai Link.

Power

The power icon offers:

ActionWhat happens
Restart appQuits and relaunches Lightbox
Close appQuits Lightbox; the kiosk may relaunch it, depending on the Windows setup
Restart computerReboots Windows; Lightbox starts again after any pending updates
Shut down computerPowers off; Lightbox starts the next time the computer is turned on

Restart computer and Shut down computer ask for confirmation. Use them from Settings, not during a patient visit.

Device keyboard

Kiosks often have no keyboard. Use the keyboard button in Settings — and on the passcode pages — to show the Windows on-screen keyboard, then tap a field to type.
