Multiple patients

Include another patient ID so their studies appear in the same room without replacing the assigned patient.

Sometimes the studies you need are under more than one Patient ID — a prior ID, a matched record, or an extra accession. Include adds that person’s studies to the same room without replacing the assigned patient.

When you will see this

A yellow people icon appears next to the patient name when:

  • Link found other patients who might match, or
  • You already included someone

The icon is filled when at least one extra patient is included. Click it to open Multiple Matches. On the rooms list, the same icon opens the same dialog.

Include from Multiple Matches

  1. Click the people icon.
  2. The assigned patient is marked In room.
  3. Turn Include on for another row to add their studies.
  4. Turn it off to Uninclude them.

The studies table then lists both IDs. Included rows use yellow markers so you can tell them apart from the assigned patient.

On room detail, the actions menu, then Include, opens a search with the same fields as rooming: Last name, First name, Patient ID, and DOB.

  1. Find the other patient.
  2. Choose the include control on that row.
  3. If they are already the assigned patient, Link says they are already in the room.

You cannot include someone who is already included.

Dates of birth do not match

If the included person’s date of birth does not match the assigned patient, Link asks Are you sure? and warns that the records are unlikely to be related.

  • Choose Cancel if this is the wrong person
  • Choose Include only if you mean to combine those studies
Compare PID, name, DOB, and sex in the confirmation before you continue.

Uninclude

  • On the studies table, click the X on the yellow name badge
  • Or turn Include off in Multiple Matches

Uninclude removes that ID’s studies from the room, and the assigned patient stays. Clear on the room removes everyone — assigned and included.

Tips

  • Include is for extra studies in the same visit. Assign is for who is in the room.
  • If the wrong priors appear, uninclude first, then search again.
  • Viewer and Lightbox show the same included studies you pick here.
