Managing studies
Use the studies panel to show or hide rows on this display, refresh from PACS, and respond to study updates.
The studies panel lists imaging for the roomed patient, plus any included patients. You can show or hide rows on this display and refresh from PACS. You can’t room a patient or include a match from Lightbox — do that in Lumirai Link or Lumirai Viewer.
Open the panel
While unlocked:
- Tap Show studies on the status bar, or tap the patient chip.
- Or choose Study list from the viewer menu (•••).
Tap Hide studies, use the close control, or press Escape to close the panel.
Show or hide a study
Each row has a Show / Hide control, shown as an eye. Tapping it marks that study for display in this room, and Joints reloads to match. The header shows N of M displayed.
If an update fails, Lightbox shows Update failed — Could not update study display. Try again, or change the selection in Link or Viewer.
Refresh
Tap Refresh studies to query PACS again for the roomed patient and any included MRNs. If the refresh can’t finish, you see Refresh failed — Could not refresh studies.
Empty lists
Rooming still happens in Link or Viewer. The panel shows these messages when there is nothing to list:

Multiple matches and included patients
A people icon next to the patient name means there is more than one identity in play:
- Outline — extra matches are available. Include them from Lumirai Viewer or Lumirai Link; Lightbox is read-only for includes.
- Filled — additional patient studies are already included.
When more than one MRN is included, Lightbox shows chips for the assigned patient and each included patient, and tints the rows so you can see which studies belong to whom.
Studies updated
If staff change the displayed studies in Link or Viewer while you’re looking at images, Lightbox docks a prompt:
- Update — reload Joints with the new set now
- Dismiss — keep the current images, and an Update button stays on the status bar
If you do nothing, Lightbox applies the change after 5 seconds.
Preferred viewer
Some cards use a different Joints viewer account than the one already loaded. Lightbox then asks Reload with preferred viewer?
- Switch viewer — reload Joints with that account
- Keep current — stay on the viewer already on screen
If you do nothing, Lightbox keeps the current viewer after 5 seconds.
