Tab Sync keeps the same open studies available across your devices — for example your iPad and a clinic computer — and lets a care team share one list of open views. It is an Echo Pro feature.
Synced data is stored in your organization’s Microsoft 365 (OneDrive), under your clinic’s agreement with Microsoft. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported.
Who can use what
| Role | What you can do |
|---|
| Provider | Turn on Tab Sync, use Your list, share it with colleagues, join lists shared with you |
| Staff | Turn on Tab Sync and join a list someone shared (Staff does not create the clinic’s main shared folder) |
| Free | Tab Sync is unavailable |
First-time setup
1. Turn Tab Sync on
- Sign in to Echo with Joints.
- Open Settings → Tab Sync.
- Turn on Enable Tab Sync. - Detail text: Keeps the same studies open across your iPad and this computer.
2. Log in with Microsoft
- Choose Log in with Microsoft.
- Your system browser opens. Sign in with your work Microsoft 365 account.
- When you see a success page (“You’re signed in”), you can close that browser tab and return to Echo.
3. Organization approval (first time at your clinic)
The first person in a Microsoft 365 organization who connects Echo may see a message that your organization needs to approve Files access for Echo.
That is expected. Microsoft requires a tenant administrator to consent before Echo can store sync files in OneDrive.
What to do:
- In Echo, choose Request admin consent if shown — or ask your IT / Microsoft 365 admin to approve Echo’s Files access in Entra (Azure AD).
- After the admin approves, return to Echo and try Log in with Microsoft again.
For admin steps in more detail, see Microsoft 365 admin consent for Tab Sync.
4. Choose a sync list
Under Lists:
- Providers activate Your list (your own sync folder).
- Staff (and Providers joining someone else) pick a list under Shared with you, or add one by link.
Once a list is active, open studies as usual. Echo syncs about every 30 seconds. The status bar shows when you last synced (for example Synced 2:32 PM). Use Sync now if you want an immediate refresh.
Sharing your list (Provider)
Share so assistants or colleagues see the same open views.
- Open Settings → Tab Sync → Sync Lists.
- Choose Share my list.
- Enter your colleague’s work email (same Microsoft 365 organization) and choose Share.
- After access is granted, copy the Share link and send it to them. The link helps them add the list right away instead of waiting for it to appear under Shared with you.
You can review who has access under Shared with, and Stop sharing for an individual when needed.
Important: Sharing only works with people in the same Microsoft 365 tenant. The share link alone does not grant access — Echo must already have shared the folder with their email.
Joining a shared list (Staff or Provider)
You can join in either way:
Wait for discovery
- Ask the Provider to share their list with your email.
- In Settings → Tab Sync, open Shared with you.
- Select the list when it appears (this can take a few minutes).
Add by link (faster)
- Get the Share link from the Provider (from their Share my list flow).
- In Echo, choose Add shared list by link (or Add a list).
- Paste the link (it looks like
https://www.lumir.ai/echo/list#…) and choose Add list.
Remember: the Provider must have shared with your email first. The link only skips the wait for the list to show up automatically.
Day-to-day use
- Open or close studies on any signed-in device; others on the same list see the changes within about half a minute.
- Room and Note on a view sync with the list — helpful for “room 3” handoffs.
- The sync “day” rolls forward in the early morning (around 3:00 local time).
- Reset my list clears today’s open views on every device using that list — use only when you intend to wipe the board for everyone.
Privacy reminders
- Tab Sync stores patient information (names, IDs, dates of birth, study links, room, notes) in your organization’s OneDrive folder Lumirai Echo Sync.
- Use only a business Microsoft account covered by your organization’s BAA with Microsoft.
- On a shared workstation, Tab Sync follows the Joints account signed into Echo — the next person does not inherit your Microsoft sync session after you log out of Joints appropriately and use separate accounts.
